Food BanksThose of us that have steady incomes and a full stomach can often forget that some people aren't as lucky. We hear about the tragedy of starvation and famine in other countries but often forget about the tragedy of hunger and poverty in our own. Food banks are an important resource for those whose income is not sufficient to provide all the essentials for themselves and their families. Sometimes, their money has to go to things such as rent and gas instead of food. Food banks are there to help by supplying food to those in need, so that families do not have to go to bed hungry. In Nova Scotia, Canada, since 1997, the use of food banks has increased over 46%. Across the country of Canada, every province except Newfoundland has shown increases in the use of food banks in the last few years. This site and it's materials are free, but if you find these tools useful, please consider making a donation of food or money to a local food bank.
